SHOPPING WITH JUMIA (MINI HAUL)

Hello everyone, hope you are having a jolly good day?
So I just got some stuff I got on line from Jumia and decided to do a short review.
I start off by saying their customer service is great. This is the first Nigerian website I am ordering  from and I am indeed pleased. I needed some lash extensions and a friend recommended sacred beauty so I decided to try it out and I found the company on Jumia, I decided to just do a general search for some other beauty products I have been searching for and to my surprise they were there! and at a cheaper price! (ah 200 naira is something o! tehehee). I think different sellers come together and put their stuff there for sale at a reasonable rate and the shipping rate was quite fair (#528).
here my order was, took two days to arrive to my destination and I was called to come pick it up at my gate.
These are the items for those that want to see.
When I opened it one lash was nowhere to be found but that's not new with most online items ,all in all it was great service and I am pleased.

These are the links to the items I got:

First lash box of 10 (from the left)http://www.jumia.com.ng/sacred-beauty-box-of-10-p26-123000.html

2nd Darker Fuller lashe box of 10: Out of Stock (But keep checkiing for restock,or check out her other lashes, company's name is sacred beauty)

THE IMPORTANCE OF EYE PRIMERS

I know this might not be news but it has come to my realization that whenever we use eye shadow, the importance of an eye primer is forgotten or not known. Using a primer before applying foundation, lipstick or eye shadow is essential for long lasting bright make up. A primer acts as a canvas for make up and also creates a barrier between your skin and make up. It is easy for oil from the skin to come in contact with make up which leads to greasing, irritation ,creasing and messy make up look, this barrier reduces the chances between skin and make up contact, this is good because it reduces oil from the skin interacting with the make up and enhances make up to look smooth and flawless.

I get asked a lot by clients and friends on why their eye shadow does not last or stay put or is not as highly pigmented as it shows on the palette. My first answer is a question : Do you use a primer first?
I am currently using the House of tara eye primer and it works wonders for me and it is very cost effective and can be used for professional purposes as well,I cannot emphasize on how good this primer is. I got mine for about 2500 in Nigerian currency. there are varieties of eye primers in the cosmetic market ,however be careful to look out for certain qualities so you do not end up disappointed.
These are certain qualities you are to look out for

  • It should be creamy and smooth in consistency
  • It should blend in perfectly well on your skin
  • It should leave a smooth natural cast, this helps in making eye shadow colors stand out
  • A little should go a long way, you do not want to buy a primer that will require constant application before you can get a good base for your eye shadow.

The above qualities and more are contained in the house of tara eye primer( A big thank you to Omaz pro who recommended it,it changed my make up life!).
Other good primers in the market that I know of are: urban decay primer potion, Nyx jumbo pencil(comes in different colours),Please note that the nyx jumbo pencil is an eye shadow base and not fully a primer,it can serve the job of a primer,it creates a canvas and intensify eye shadow like a primer, however be careful not to use too much as it creases easily .

The importance of an eye shadow primer is best shown as pictures speaks volumes. Here are a few pictures showing a swatch of eye shadows with primer and no primer.
This is the house of Tara primer and it is renowned in Nigeria, I do not know if there are distributors outside Nigeria yet. Check online for it,on Konga,Jumia or better still the house of tara website,
Above is a swatch of just a tiny bit of the primer

This is an e.l.f 120 eye shadow palette .When I got this palette two years ago I  was very disappointed and frustrated because I felt it was not pigmented enough, I had to pat on 5 or more coats just to even get it to be visible, however this was when I had no knowledge of eye primers.Fast forward to a year later and I started using primers and it got better, now fast forward to an additional year with my current eye primer, this is the difference.

From the right to the left are eye shadow colours from the e.l.f palette with eye primer and no primer.I left a bit of white cast so you can tell which has primer and which doesn't. Some people will see this and still prefer it with no primer and that is okay but think of durability ,you do not need too much and for those who prefer their primers to be the same color as the eyeshadow, try the nyx jumbo eyepencil.

This is just an illustration to show how long they last, this is after I used ordinary wipes to clean everything. If you look closely, the eyeshadow without primer is all gone whereas the ones with prime is still there.

For super pigmented eyeshadows like this sleek eyeshadow in acid ,primers are still essential for that extra pop and colour

This is another swatch . From right to left showing the colours from the sleek palette with primer and no primer.

A good tip is try to pat on products with creamy primers than swipe

I hope this suggestion helps. If you are not sure of a primer, always ask around and remember the internet is your friend,do your research!
